Standard V: Managerial Leadership

I believe a managerial leader is one that develops and implements procedures to ensure a safe, orderly and fiscally responsible school environment. Together with their staff and other valuable stakeholders, a managerial leader should establish structures and expectations that allows for open communication, clear priorities and a safe space for conflict resolution. When discussing priorities, fiscal matters or engaging in crucial conversations to manage conflict, a managerial leader should focus on student achievement, instruction and school goals. A managerial leader should always keep in mind the school’s core values, beliefs and mission.

I worked specifically with a 7th grade inclusion team who was struggling to create a collaborative working environment together. We met weekly to establish and monitor team norms, common goal, and co-teaching lesson plans.
